Halloween Events for Kids in Yorkshire (2025)

There’s something about Halloween in Yorkshire that feels made for families and kids. The autumn air turns crisp, hedgerows glow with colour, and across the county, farms, estates and adventure parks transform themselves into pumpkin kingdoms. For parents, it’s a chance to swap city pavements for muddy boots, and for children, it’s that magical moment when dressing up and eating sweets is actively encouraged. Yorkshire does Halloween in a particularly charming way — less Hollywood horror, more warm family fun with just enough spooky sparkle to feel exciting.

With that in mind, here’s a round-up of the best family-friendly Halloween events across Yorkshire in 2025. Each one is perfect for children up to 12, and all are organised by region so you can find something close to home. Expect pumpkins, trails, and plenty of chances for the kids to get gloriously muddy.

North Yorkshire

Stockeld Park, Wetherby
Dates: 25th October – 2nd November 2025 (plus weekends in October).
Cost: Adults from £15, children from £14, under-2s free (pumpkins extra).
Stockeld Park is one of Yorkshire’s big hitters for family Halloween. The Enchanted Forest comes alive with witches, wizards, and themed activities, while the Monster Maze is full of friendly spooks. There are indoor play areas, outdoor adventure zones, and tractor rides out to the pumpkin field. Book ahead because half-term dates sell fast.

Spilmans Pumpkin Festival, Thirsk.
Dates: Weekends in October + daily 25th October – 2nd November
Cost: Around £7.50 per person entry, (ticket inclides a £5 voucher to spend on a pumpkin). Pumpkins priced £2–£10 depending on size.
This farm near Thirsk has become a pumpkin-picking hotspot. Families pile onto tractor rides, wheelbarrows are provided for the haul, and there’s a fairground atmosphere with food stalls and seasonal games. It’s a proper day out that works as much for toddlers as it does for older children keen to choose the biggest pumpkin they can lift.

Go Ape Dalby Forest, Pickering
Dates: 25th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: From £20 for Treetop Adventure (children 6+), pumpkin activities free with booking.
For outdoorsy families, Go Ape puts on special Halloween sessions. In the daytime, it’s pumpkin carving, scavenger hunts, and treetop fun, while older kids might enjoy glow-in-the-dark zip wires after dusk. It’s more energetic than spooky, and perfect for burning off half-term energy.

Castle Howard Pumpkin Patch and Halloween Trail, York
Dates: 26th October – 3rd November 2025.
Cost: Family tickets from £40 (pumpkins extra, £3–£10).
The grand gardens of Castle Howard become home to a rustic pumpkin patch and a Halloween trail through the grounds. It’s less about scares and more about atmosphere — beautiful for photos and easy for younger children who might not fancy being startled.

Birchfield Ice Cream Farm, Summerbridge, near Harrogate
Dates: Throughout October.
Cost: Entry around £3, pumpkins extra by size (£2–£8).
Known for its homemade ice cream, Birchfield Farm also offers a charming pumpkin-picking event. There’s a small maize maze, a chance to meet farm animals, and simple but fun activities for little ones. It’s great value and perfect for families who want a relaxed, half-day outing.

West Yorkshire

Cannon Hall Farm Pumpkin Festival, Barnsley
Dates: 19th October – 3rd November 2025.
Cost: £16.95 per person (includes a free child pumpkin).
This is one of the best all-rounders for family Halloween. Entry includes the farm animals, adventure playgrounds, tractor rides, and a pumpkin for every child. It’s slickly run and avoids the extra charges that sometimes creep into other events.

Thornton Hall Country Park, near Skipton
Dates: 25th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: Ticket prices vary. Adults from £5.95, children from £4.95 (pumpkin priced separately).
Thornton Hall’s Halloween Adventure blends farm activities with indoor soft play and themed entertainment. Children can pick a pumpkin from the patch, then decorate it in a covered barn, while the farm animals and tractor rides keep the day varied.

Kemp’s Farm, Horsforth Pick Your Own Pumpkins, Leeds
Dates: October weekends and half-term.
Cost: Tickets from £4.00 each.
This PYO site near Leeds is no-frills but hugely popular. Entry is free, and you only pay for the pumpkins you take home. There’s often hot chocolate and snack vans, making it a great budget-friendly option.

Lotherton Hall Spooky Estate, Leeds
Dates: 25th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: Adults £6, children £11 (includes pumpkin).
Lotherton Hall transforms into a “Spooky Estate” each Halloween with trails through the gardens, themed crafts, and a chance to explore the Edwardian house in costume. It’s a cultural day out that balances fun with history.

Temple Newsam Junior Ghost Walk, Leeds
Dates: 26th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: Included in general admission.
This Tudor-Jacobean mansion offers a junior ghost walk through the house. It’s gentle and atmospheric rather than scary, and ideal for primary school children.

East Yorkshire

Sledmere House, Driffield
Dates: 25th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: Adults £13.50, children £7.
Sledmere’s “Spooky Sledmere” combines pumpkin carving, treasure trails, and seasonal crafts. The house itself provides a dramatic backdrop, while the activities are fun without being too frightening.

Beetle Bank Farm Pumpkin Picking, York outskirts
Dates: October weekends and half-term.
Cost: Tickets from £8.38.
This is a smaller, family-run farm offering tractor rides, a friendly pumpkin patch, and a play barn. Great value for younger children who don’t need a full day of entertainment.

William’s Den, North Cave
Dates: 25th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: Tickets for ages 3 to adult £26.20.
William’s Den runs Halloween play sessions with pumpkin trails, crafts, and indoor climbing barns. It’s one of the best rainy-day options, with loads of covered space and adventure play for younger children.

Sewerby Hall – Various Activities, Bridlington
Dates: 25th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: Ticket prices vary.
Sewerby Hall’s coastal setting makes its Halloween events extra special. Families can wander the gardens following clues, pick a pumpkin, and enjoy the small zoo on site.

Piglets Adventure Farm, Towthorpe
Dates: 19th October – 3rd November 2025.
Cost: Tickets from £4.95 (includes £2 voucher towards a pumpkin).
Piglets runs a Pumpkin Festival with a dedicated carving tent, mazes, and themed entertainment. Every child takes home a pumpkin, and the play barns make this one of the best all-weather choices.

South Yorkshire

Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster
Dates: 25th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: Adults from £21.50, children from £17.50; trick or treat trial £6 per child.
The wildlife park combines animals with Halloween fun. There are themed live shows, a trick-or-treat trail, and costumed characters roaming the site. It’s ideal if you want a full day that mixes wildlife with seasonal sparkle.

Tropical Butterfly House, Sheffield
Dates: 18th October – 2nd November 2025.
Cost: Adults £17.95, children £16.95, under-2s free.
This wildlife attraction runs a Witches and Wizards Trail with themed animal encounters, and crafts. It’s colourful, engaging, and excellent for under-10s.

Wentworth Garden Centre Halloween Trail, Rotherham
Dates: October weekends and half-term.
Cost: Around £3.75 per child for trail, pumpkins individually priced.
Wentworth runs a charming pumpkin trail through its historic walled gardens. It’s an affordable, short trip that works well for younger children.

Halloween Pumpkins

Practical Tips for Parents

• Book ahead: The last two weekends of October and half-term week are peak. Most venues release tickets in early September, and family-friendly sessions sell quickly.
• Pumpkins usually cost extra: Unless stated, most sites charge for pumpkins separately (£2–£10 depending on size). A few — like Cannon Hall Farm and Piglets Adventure Farm — include one in the ticket price.
• Dress for mud: Many of Yorkshire’s best events are on working farms. Wellies, waterproofs, and a change of clothes make the day much easier.
• Costume-friendly but practical: Kids can absolutely dress up, but if you’re climbing or zip-lining (Go Ape), make sure outfits don’t interfere with safety gear.
• Budget range: Family days out typically cost between £30 and £70 for four people, depending on whether pumpkins and extras are included. Free-entry pumpkin patches like Horsforth keep costs lower.

Closing Thoughts

Yorkshire does Halloween with heart. From the grandeur of Castle Howard to the muddy fun of Spilmans Farm, there’s something for every age and budget. For toddlers, the free-entry pumpkin patches are perfect; for primary school children, places like Stockeld Park, and Piglets Adventure Farm offer immersive days out. If you’d like to mix it with wildlife, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Tropical Butterfly House add a unique twist.

Wherever you go, one thing’s certain: you’ll come home with muddy boots, a car boot full of pumpkins, and children already asking when they can wear their costumes again. Halloween in Yorkshire 2025 promises to be magical — just the right balance of cosy autumn tradition and gentle spooky fun for the kids.
